Introduction
In most organisations, performance issues are rarely about individual capability alone - they are shaped by the leadership culture around them.
What gets prioritised, what gets tolerated, how decisions are made and where accountability truly sits, all influence business performance across the organisation.
These cultures are set and carried from the top. CEOs are expected to lead them, role model them and intervene when they falter, often while holding the weight of the business more broadly.
Well-designed leadership and management cultures create clear expectations, consistent standards and a shared understanding of what good looks like. When CEOs are properly supported, this clarity is reinforced consistently. Without it, those standards are more easily diluted by pressure, pace and competing demands.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW
The context in which organisations are operating has shifted. Changes to employment legislation mean it is more important than ever that people enter a strong performance culture early, understand what is expected of them and issues are addressed decisively when they arise.
At the same time, the cost of running a business continues to rise. Employing people is more expensive, margins are tighter and there is less room to accommodate poor hiring decisions, delayed action or prolonged underperformance.
In this environment, the judgement and consistency of the CEO matters more than ever. Leaders are required to hold clearer standards, act sooner and navigate more complex people decisions, often without a natural space to test thinking or challenge assumptions. For many businesses, full time in-house HR expertise is not affordable or proportionate, yet the demand on the CEO continues to increase.
My work is designed to sit alongside you on an ongoing basis, providing consistent support, perspective and challenge without the cost or rigidity of a full time role. Alongside this, I support leaders to put clear, practical action plans in place that reflect current employment legislation, ensuring performance expectations and management decisions are effective and well grounded.

At the heart of my work is the belief that strong performance comes from empowered people who understand what is expected of them, feel trusted to deliver and are supported to take responsibility for their impact.
This means creating cultures where people can call out ways of working that are not effective, where performance is assessed by impact rather than activity and where accountability is a non-negotiable part of how the organisation operates. I work with leaders and managers to put practical frameworks in place that give them the tools to support performance, challenge appropriately and act early when issues arise.
My approach is rooted in habit formation and behaviour change. It focuses on embedding ways of working that are sustainable over time, rather than relying on one-off interventions or top-down control.

WAYS OF WORKING
CEO CONFIDANTE
My work here is centred on the CEO. It is designed for leaders who want a trusted person alongside them, someone who understands the business, the people dynamics and the decisions that sit with them personally.
In this role, I act as the CEO’s confidante and thinking partner, providing perspective, challenge and support on demand. Where helpful, this can extend into working with other members of the leadership team, but always from a position of supporting the CEO’s agenda and direction.
It offers the depth and continuity of senior people expertise without the cost or rigidity of a full-time HRD role.
HR REWIRED – focused project work.
This works well where there is a specific piece of work, for example designing or strengthening performance frameworks; resetting ways of working; supporting leadership teams through change or designing clearer management expectations.
Project work is time-bound and outcome-focused, with a clear point of completion once the work is embedded. This may include developing practical action plans in response to changes in employment legislation, which ensures that performance cultures and management practices remain robust and defensible.
